Thomas began practicing varies Martial Arts and Combat Sports since young and later discovered Brazilian JiuJitsu  (BJJ), which he started training in 1997. He started with one of the first groups of BJJ Teams in London, England and within one year started competing against some of the early pioneers of the sport in Europe. 

This later led to his introduction to Jose 'Ze' Marcello Rodrigues, a Brazilian former World and Pan American Champion under whom he earned his Black Belt becoming the first Chinese Black Belt to teach BJJ living in Hong Kong. 

Thomas has been an instructor of BJJ in Hong Kong since 2002 and is credited with fostering the sport here and regionally. His experience has also led him to be an Advisor and Referee in many professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) events in Asia, and he remains active in promoting BJJ & MMA via national organisations. 
 
Many of Thomas's students under his Team - KylinBJJ, have successfully gone on to take part in regional and international BJJ / No Gi and MMA tournaments. 

As well as teaching BJJ, Thomas is also an Osteopath by profession, treating work and sports related ailments in Hong Kong.
