Andy started trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Thomas Fan since 2005, and was awarded his Black Belt in 2019. He has competed in many domestic and regional competitions, most notably winning the Bronze Medal in the No Gi 65-70kg competition at the Philippines Grappling Challenge in 2006. In ADCC world Champion 2010 at Shanghai hewon the Silver Medal in the blue belt competition, and also the Bronze Medal in the below 65 kilos Open Championship. He is currently an Assistant Coach at Kylin BJJ.

Andy began his study of Eskrima in 2002, learning the art of Kalis Ilustrisimo, a blade-based system founded by Antonio “Tatang” Ilustrisimo. He later became a student of Guro John Chow from Australia, and under the recommendation of Chow, Andy was able to visit the Headquarters of Kalis Ilustrisimo in Manila and study directly from Grandmaster Tony Diego, the present head of the school. After multiple visits Andy was certified by Diego himself as Kalis Ilustrisimo instructor, and became the first official representative of this art in Hong Kong.

Andy’s martial arts study spans 20 years. In the early days his training concentrated on Muay Thai.
